Network Rail Medical Services
Network Rail Medical Assessments
A sought-after service at NIS Consulting is the Network Rail Medical. Prior to enrolling in a PTS course for Network Rail Infrastructure work, employees must undergo a PTS Medical and D&A.
The medical aims to verify that individuals in safety-critical positions possess the physical capability to consistently ensure safety while working on the network, benefiting both themselves and those around them.
This competency-specific evaluation includes a medical questionnaire, measurements of height/weight/BMI, blood pressure, pulse, blood glucose levels, assessment of mobility, vision testing (including colour vision), and a hearing test.
Network Rail Drug & Alcohol Testing Prior Learning Assessment
In addition to the PTS medical, individuals must undergo Network Rail Drug & Alcohol screening. The NWR drug test involves laboratory analysis of a urine sample. The rail industry enforces an alcohol cut-off level of 13 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
The urine sample is analysed either on-site or at our RISQS accredited laboratory.
Network Rail maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drug and alcohol use. A positive result for any substances in the 7-panel test will result in the cancellation of your Sentinel card, barring you from working on Network Rail infrastructure for a period of 5 years.
